I was honored to talk about race, identity and politics in the age of Obama on the Brian Lehrer Live show in New York recently. Check the show's blog here. My friend and former colleague Jim Sleeper of Talking Points Memo and I compared remarkably similar notes during the segment, which originally aired on November 5th.
Enjoy!

Some of the recent events have made big impacts on the ideas of race. Great interview.

This is an excellent discussion of the new post-racial dynamic that the Obama presidency portends. Kudos to Leon, Jim and Brian. It is heartening that the progressive sensibilities of Generation Y and the Millennials that you talked about are now being reflected in politics and other areas of public life. I caution, however, that despite the promise of an era of more mature race relations, true progress will require that the uninformed and apolitical underclass--of all races--that still exists across the country somehow needs to be brought into the fold.
